Using a Pendulum: Get into the Swing

A pendulum is one of the easiest and forms of divination to learn. It is also one of the cheapest. You can either buy a pendulum (like one of these) Or you can us a necklace you already own. Or even a ring on a piece of string or yarn.

Just like with any form of divination you are connecting to your higher self and the collective unconscious. Also like any other kind of spiritual work you will want to start by grounding and centering. Sit with your pendulum and hold it between your hands and connect with its energy. When you are ready, I recommend sitting at a table so that you can rest your elbow on the table to stabilize your arm so that the pendulum is moving “on its own” not because you are shaky.

Establish how your pendulum is going to respond to Yes/No questions. There are several ways to do that. Some people ask questions that they already know the answer to to check the response. I personally, simply like to ask the pendulum to show me “YES” and “NO”. They I take note of how it moves or rotates for each one. For example I may say show me “YES” and the pendulum may sway front to back or rotate clockwise. Then when I say show me “NO” it may sway side to side or rotate counter clockwise. This will establish how I will interpret the responses when I ask my divination questions.

Keep in mind the clearer you make your question the clearer your answer will be. You want to boil the question down to as simple of a yes/no question as you can. Some times with something more complex you may have to really think about break it down in to parts making each part a simple yes/no question.

Once you have got the hand of using your pendulum for this type of simple yes no questions you may want to buy or make pendulum boards to be able to ask more in depth questions.

Another great way to use your pendulum is to find lost items. First sketch out a rough map of the area you either last saw, remember having, or think you lost your item. Hold your pendulum over your map and ask it to show you where the item is.

For example if you know it is in your house you can sketch out the layout of your house. Or if your house in multiple floors. You can draw out a pendulum board that lays out “first floor”, “second floor”, “basement”, “attic”. Once you have determined which floor, then you can draw out a rough layout of the rooms. When you been led to the room you can do a layout of that room. Keep going until you have narrowed down exactly where the item is.

There are all kinds of ways you can use this type of pendulum divination. Your imagination is the only limit.

Checking and balancing your Chakra’s is another area the pendulum is great for. The easiest way to do that is to have someone stand in front of you or laydown. Then you hold the pendulum either in front of each chakra center or over them and see how the pendulum moves. How it moves can tell you a lot about the chakras.

• Does it seem the the pendulum is hesitating. That particular chakra may be blocked.

• Is it moving super slow or in very small slow circles? That chakra may be under active.

• Is it moving super fast and wildly? That chakra may be over active.

• Is it moving back and forth rather than in a circular movement? There may be something you are holding on to in that chakra.

• When your chakras are open and balanced the pendulum should move circularly in a clean open movement. Each one should move in the opposite direction of the one above or below it. For example if your Root Chakra moves clockwise, your Sacral Chakra should move counter clockwise.

To get an even clearer reading on a particular chakra that seems to be having an issue you can use the following pendulum board and ask it to show you a particular chakra. Ideally for balanced chakras you want them to be between 30 & 70 percent. Below 30 would indicate a underactive and over 70 would indicate over active.
