You did your research, decided what exactly you want your spell to do, cast it with precision, and now you want to tell everyone about this spell you cast, but then it fails. You do not get it, why do all your spells fail? All your Social Media friends were impressed with your set up and loved the video of you doing the spell. What went wrong? Did someone hex you to have your spells fail?
Look no further than the Witch’s Pyramid for the answers. It may not be glamourous or fun, but the final side of the Pyramid tells us to KEEP SILENT. Do not speak about your magic until after it manifests and then sometimes you still should not speak about it.
Spells are the manipulation of Universal Energy towards a specific goal. Without getting too complicated, energy goes where it is directed to make things happen, but when you talk about the spell that directed your energy, misdirection can occur, and the spell will either fail or manifest in a way that you didn’t expect it to.
For example, you cast a spell for a new job (your dream job) and you decide to tell everyone you know that you did a spell for this job. You just called back that energy before it can go work it’s magick and achieve its goal. By telling your best friend about what you did, your best friend doesn’t want you to leave them because you share the same work hours, and they start asking you questions about your qualifications and motives for the new job. In turn, you start to doubt you are the best candidate for the position and when you go into the Interview, you get nervous and mess up the interview and don’t get the job. All because you couldn’t keep silent the spell failed.
You are not hexed; you are just unable to keep silent until the spell does its thing. Your friend didn’t do anything wrong, they probably asked about if you were qualified because they didn’t want you to be upset if you failed the interview. Your friend accidentally made you doubt your intentions. Had you kept silent about the spell, your intentions would have been strong, and you would have had a better chance of getting the job.
Throughout history, witchcraft and spell craft have been demonized. We may not have witch hunts in the classic sense anymore, but there are still around in new forms. The Witch’s Pyramid commands us to keep silent for that reason. If you live in the United States, you have the First Amendment to protect you from religious persecution, in theory. Everyday Americans lose their children and jobs because of their religions. People who feel they are doing “God’s Work” are very clever about how they persecute others, so they don’t violate the First Amendment .
Say for example, you have two small kids with your ex-husband. He has custody on the weekends, and they come home telling you how he talks bad about you and takes them to a church that is more of a hate group than a peaceful religion. So, you decide one weekend to do a cord cutting spell to rid him from your life. You decide to do it on Facebook Live so your friends can watch and add their energy. You do the spell and somehow, he finds a copy of the Live. Before you know it, you are being sued for custody of the children because you live in an unsafe environment (those burning candles are a fire hazard.) The case goes before a judge who is a fire and brimstone man himself. Without mentioning witchcraft, the Ex convinces the judge that you are keeping the kids in an unsafe environment and teaching them to hate him. The Judge decides that you are an unfit mother and grants custody to the Ex. You did cut him from your life, but at what cost. When you share your spell work online, you are telling the world what you did, you are not keeping silent. That spell may have had a different result if you had done it without broadcasting it. People have lost children, spouses, jobs, friends, and housing in this country because they couldn’t keep silent about their witchcraft.
I’m not using this example to scare anyone, but it is important to remember that sometimes it is best to keep things quiet. Not everything needs to be told to others or shared on social media. I hold the attitude that not everyone is worthy of knowing everything about me. I’m not being shady or trying to be something I’m not, you are just not worthy of access to that part of my life. To be Silent enforces that idea. Once a spell is manifest, you can feel free to share details if you wish, if you wish, and share as many of the details as you feel is appropriate. Social media has us trained to share everything in our lives and truthfully, not everyone needs to know everything. Many pagan paths are considered Mystery Religions, keep some Mystery in them.
To Be Silent is part of the Witch’s Pyramid because witches are most powerful when they don’t share with the general populous. Our magic is sacred and should be first between us and our Deities. It is ok to help another trusted witch but not everybody who asks for help really want help. Some want to manipulate and harm others to make themselves feel powerful. Do your spells, keep your journals, let your spells take their time to manifest, and keep silent. After your spells are done and have run their course, only share with those that are worthy.
If you decide to teach your craft, it is perfectly fine to leave out a detail or two when teaching the general public. Save the exact details for those whom you find worthy and invest in learning the full magic. This is part of the theory behind “Oathbound” materials within some witchcraft traditions. You must be a committed member of a group in order to get all the materials. This protects the witches of the group and ensures that their workings are kept sacred and not used to harm those who are not trained to do that magical system. Oathbound is not to make the group feel better than others, it’s to help maintain a level of To Keep Silent and protect their energies.
There is power in the silence and by keeping silent, you are controlling your true power. Yes, it takes practice when you are first beginning your spell craft adventures, but over time, it becomes part of the habit. If you keep a spell journal, it is a great place to talk about your spells without disrupting the spell’s energy. Believe it or not, our ancestors knew a thing or two.
So, next time you cast a spell do your best to keep silent and see what happens.
