Oomancy -- Eggcellent form of Divination

There are different methods of oomancy, but one common approach is to observe the patterns formed by the egg white and yolk after breaking an egg into a container of water. Practitioners may look for specific shapes, symbols, or formations that appear in the water, and interpret their meanings based on traditional associations and symbolism.

How to Do & Read an Egg Cleanse

An egg cleanse is a way to get rid of any negative energy that you may have picked up. There are many variations of the egg cleanse, and it has roots in ancient cultures worldwide, including Mesoamerica, Greece, and Scotland. Today, people use egg cleanses to rid themselves or their loved ones of bad or toxic energy that might be weighing them down.

Cleanse your egg under running water.

Fill a glass with room-temperature water

Set your intention. Hold your egg in your hands, letting it warm up just slightly. Blow and whisper or speak your intention onto the egg, mentioning any negative energy or toxicity that you’d like to get rid of with this cleanse.

You could say something like:

• “With this cleanse, I will rid myself of energy that is not working towards my highest good.”

Sit or lay in a comfortable position. Hold the egg in one hand and run Start by sitting or lying down in a comfortable position, holding the egg in one hand. Run the egg over your face along the back of your head, don’t forget your ears. Close your eyes to rub the egg along your eyelids, then rub it on your lips, too.

Focus on releasing any negative energy into the egg. Allow the egg to pull out and absorb any negative energy from your body.

Move the egg down your body, running it along yourself. Go from head to toe, imagining the egg pulling out the negative energy. Move the egg in small, clockwise circles to release any negative energy.

If you’re doing an egg cleanse on someone else, carefully run the egg along their body in small circles. Move from head to toe slowly, focusing on releasing negative energy.

If the egg breaks at all during the cleaning, start over with a new egg.

Once you have run the egg over your entire body and feel like it has absorbed all the negativity, grab your glass of water that you have sat out to get to room temperature. Carefully crack the egg into it, trying to keep the yolk all in one piece. Let the egg settle for 5 to 10 minutes so you can look into the water and interpret your results.

Once you have left the egg settle, place the glass on a table or counter so you can see straight into it through the side of the glass. Do not look at it from the top of the glass. (It is said that looking through the glass keeps you from re-absorbing the negativity.) Examine the shape of the yolk, the shape of the egg whites, and the color of the water. Then you can interpret the signs in the egg.

Blood or water that smells bad is a good indication that someone has used magic against you. It could also mean that you have an illness or a disease that you haven’t discovered yet. You may want to do another egg cleanse to rid yourself completely of any negativity being cast your way. You may also want to do some extra shielding and wards. Maybe a mirror shield to send any negative energy being directed towards you back to the sender. If you think it may be an illness or a disease seek medical attention, as well as taking any magical precautions.

Bubbles within the water or the egg whites mean that your cleansing ritual was a success

If you see large bubbles or balloons in the water, it means the egg absorbs a lot of negative energy. If you feel you are still experiencing negativity, you can always do another cleanse.

There may also be tiny brown specks or the shape of an eye in the water or the egg yolk. This is another sign that you should do a second cleansing ritual to fully rid yourself of the negativity. Some believe that these may be signs of the “evil eye”.

Cobwebs can be an indication that you’re tangled up in a confusing situation that’s causing you distress.

Needles like spikes mean there are people around you with bad intent. There could be people wishing you ill, wanting to see you fail.

See if you can see a face in the yolk. It may help you figure out who is wishing you ill.

If the water and the egg are completely normal-looking, there is no negative energy to pull from your body.

If you're worried about your results, you can take action to remove negative energy and make positive changes. Work on your shielding and staying grounded and centered.

Double yolk is a sign of good luck, if you are dating it could foretell marriage, or if you are expecting pregnancy, it is a promising sign and could indicate twins!

If you break the yolk, you will not have good luck in the future.

No yolk is a bad omen all around! (I have never seen an egg without a yolk.)

Seeing the shapes of animals can be interpreted by using the meaning of the specific animal.

Egg Divination

Remove an egg from the refrigerator and let it get to room temperature. The egg should always be at room temperature when dropped in the water. Spend some time holding it so it can attune to your energy.

Get a glass of water. In a clear glass. Allow that to also come to room temperature.

Before cracking the egg into the water. Speak or whisper your intention over the egg.

Something like, “Little egg show the truth about _______.”

Crack the egg into the glass. Traditionally a wine glass was often used.

Give the egg time to fully set, usually 6 hours to overnight. It takes time for the egg white’s formation to fully set.

You can use either a whole egg or just the egg white. When using a whole egg the yolk represents the querant. The white represents what is going on around them. When using a whole egg if the yolk breaks the cast is no good and you have to start all over again.

The egg should sit in the glass, undisturbed for at least 6 hrs. Some say 10-12 hrs. But it is really until you feel like it is set and you can clearly see the forms the egg white has taken.

When using a whole egg, do not miss the developing embryo “tail” on the yolk. This tail can often form a distinct image. Because it connects the yolk to the white it is often seen as representing something into your life.

This form of divination is best used for specific questions and not for general readings. If you study this and get good you can gain a great deal of information about a subject from egg divination.

Ovomancy is one of the easiest forms of scrying to read and master. It is right up there with Ember or Fire scrying. Other forms of scrying like mirror or crystal ball are much harder to learn. The egg whites, like the embers, will always take some form. You just need to learn, and then practice, reading them.
